Practical example: using shortcuts in a daily workflow

Section titled “Practical example: using shortcuts in a daily workflow”

A QA Specialist processes her morning queue entirely from the keyboard:

  1. She presses Ctrl+1 to navigate to the Dashboard and reviews her assigned items.
  2. She presses Ctrl+K, types “DEV-2024-047”, and selects the deviation from the results.
  3. On the deviation detail page, she selects the lightning bolt button to open the quick actions panel, then presses Ctrl+I to start the investigation.
  4. After completing the investigation notes, she presses Ctrl+C from the quick actions panel to create a linked CAPA directly from the deviation.
  5. She presses Ctrl+2 to navigate to Documents, locates the SOP that needs updating, and presses Ctrl+E from the quick actions panel to open it for editing.
  6. She presses Ctrl+K again to search for a training record she needs to review, finds it, and presses Ctrl+A from the quick actions panel to assign it to the relevant team members.

By using shortcuts instead of mouse navigation, she completes her morning review without switching between menus.
